Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, the apex body of Sikh Community was constituted under Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Act 1971. Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has always felt the need to provide quality education to young men and women. In Pursuance of its mission to promote education related activity in Delhi, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee has set up Guru Nanak College of Education at Road No. 75, Punjabi Bagh, New Delhi in year 2003. Guru Nanak College of Education is thus a member of large members of Education Institutions set up and being run by Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee all over NCR. Directorate of Higher Education, Government of NCT of Delhi granted Minority status to the college vide letter no. F.DHE-1(14)2000-1Volume II/1683 dated 18/07/2005.

Guru Nanak College of Education is located in the lush green environment of Punjabi bagh, a posh locality in West Delhi. It is being managed by highly experienced and dedicated core and visiting faculty. It provides intellectually stimulating learning environment. College has adequate infrastructure facilities and equipment to turn out competent teachers. A number of Senior Secondary Schools-Guru Harkishan Public Schools managed by DSGMC are practicing schools of Guru Nanak College of Education. These schools are providing excellent opportunities to prospective teachers of the College to undergo practice teaching with a view to acquire adequate competence in teaching.
